The Financial Analyst - Technology position sits on the Technology Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team, supporting technology and finance leaders with financial analysis, planning, forecasting, and executive insights. The role contributes to technology financial management across budgets, forecasts, operating expenses, capital investments, headcount, allocations, and vendor spend.
Role Focus
As part of the Technology FP&A function, you will analyze detailed technology spend, support financial close activities for technology cost centers, and deliver recurring and ad hoc reporting. You will also maintain planning models and partner across Technology, Finance, Accounting, Procurement, and other stakeholders to validate assumptions and communicate financial findings.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Senior Financial Analyst by reviewing Workday Financial reports and analyzing detailed spend; research paid invoices for accuracy and journal entries that drive technology financial results.
- Consolidate and analyze financial data for technology functions, including operating and capital budgets, forecasts, headcount, vendor spend, allocations, and financial reporting.
- Assist with month-end and quarter-end close for technology cost centers, including accruals, expense validation, and financial reporting.
- Prepare recurring and ad hoc technology financial reports, dashboards, charts, and executive-ready summaries.
- Perform budget-to-actual, forecast-to-actual, and period-over-period variance analysis to identify technology cost drivers, risks, and opportunities.
- Support the annual budget, periodic forecasting, and long-range planning processes for technology functions and initiatives.
- Maintain financial models and planning schedules for technology investments, projects, contracts, and business cases, including special analyses as requested.
- Partner with technology leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to review results, validate assumptions, and communicate financial insights.
- Build an understanding of technology services, cost structures, operational drivers, and financial metrics to improve forecast accuracy and management reporting.
- Support technology cost allocation and chargeback processes by validating drivers, analyzing impacts, and addressing stakeholder questions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting.
- 2 to 5 years of experience in FP&A, financial analysis, corporate finance, or a related field; experience supporting technology or other complex cost functions is preferred.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and management reporting; familiarity with technology operating expenses, capital investments, headcount, allocations, or vendor spend is preferred.
- Highly proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office; experience with enterprise planning, financial reporting, or technology financial management tools is preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Preferred Background
- Familiarity or exposure to PowerBI, Claude, and Co-Pilot.
- Experience working in the Insurance or Finance industry.
