As a Credit/Collections Officer you will be responsible for providing sound decision-making skills in the assessment of applications. This role requires both back and front office services to internal and external customers. The role is also responsible for managing delinquent commercial client portfolio 30+ days within asset-backed finance.  Main duties and responsibilities Core objectives include: • Analysing statements for validity • Handling loan applications • Gather and research information & submit findings • Running a range of credit/company searches • Chase up extra documentation when required • Customer service and stakeholder management • Working in a fast-paced team environment • Build rapport with customers to negotiate payments • Monitor arrangement and finalize accounts • Ensure all collection activity complies with the Privacy Act • Liaise with solicitors, clients and other stakeholders • Deliver excellent customer service, maintain good working relationships with other internal departments • Undertake month end risk management and exception reporting on risk platform. • Performing daily collection activity by phone and email. • Provide regular commentary / feedback on late paying and problematic accounts to Operations as required. • Prepare and distribute aged debtors reports for finance teams / Operations as required. Qualifications • A tertiary qualification (Finance or Accounting) preferred • Experience in a Credit Analyst, Credit Officer, Collections or Loan Officer role • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal • A vibrant, team player mentality • The desire to develop yourself & grow with an emerging market leader • A stable track record of success • A knack for numbers Experience • Have minimum 6 months experience working with financial documents especially small business. • Understand the process of applying for credit in Australia. Australian Business Credit 2 • Have minimum 2 years’ experience within a customer service environment. • Minimum of 1-2 years recent experience in asset-backed collections environment within either a commercial bank or finance company • Good communication skills • Good customer service skills, empathy and composure • Exposure to credit assessment process is highly desirable. • Understanding of current legislative requirements, Corporations Act, PPSA, AML & CTF and Privacy Act • Exposure to Hardship, Insolvency and Litigation are highly desirable. Knowledge • Understanding in the areas of Small Business, Mortgage Broking, Financial Planning or Property Management an advantage. • Lending Compliance. • Company financials and structures. • Cyclical calendar of deliverables including but not limited to:   o Management of monthly collections / cycles.   o Assessment of client trends.   o Management of aged debt and delinquent accounts.   o Interaction with internal finance teams to resolve issues.   o Query resolution and engagement with the business to perform these activities.   o Appropriate handling of complex payment issues and complaint management.
