The Front Desk Hygiene/Appointment/Financial Coordinator supports day-to-day operations of a dental front office in Anchorage, AK (onsite). The role coordinates hygiene scheduling, manages check-in and check-out, and handles insurance verification, claims, and patient account balances while maintaining a welcoming patient experience.
Role Summary
In this position, you will manage patient scheduling and visits, confirm appointments, and oversee financial conversations related to treatment. Responsibilities include insurance benefit verification, claims processing and follow-up, processing Medicaid claims through the portal, collecting payments, and ensuring patients understand their financial obligations and timelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Schedule and coordinate hygiene appointments
- Check patients in and out and confirm appointment details
- Manage doctor and hygiene schedules efficiently
- Welcome patients and deliver exceptional customer service
- Answer phones and assist patients with questions
- Discuss treatment plans and financial arrangements
- Collect patient payments and manage account balances
- Verify and discuss dental insurance benefits
- Process insurance claims and follow up on outstanding claims
- Call patients to obtain insurance information
- Send Medicaid claims through the portal
- Complete finances for patients with treatment
- Ensure patients understand financial obligations and payment timeline
- Maintain accurate patient records and account information
- Communicate effectively with patients, doctors, hygienists, and the rest of the dental team
- Help create a positive, organized, and welcoming patient experience
- Hold oneself and others accountable
- Perform other duties as needed
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a customer service role
- Previous dental front office experience
- Strong knowledge of dental insurance and billing
- Comfort discussing finances and payment arrangements with patients
- Confidence in hygiene scheduling and appointment coordination
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Dependable, professional, and detail-oriented
- Ability to multitask and remain calm in a busy environment
- Works well as part of a team
- Positive attitude and enjoyment in helping people
- Punctual and reliable with a professional appearance
- Ability to work independently
Preferred Dental Experience
- Experience with Dentrix software
- Experience with insurance verification and claims
- Treatment coordination experience
- Well-versed in dental terminology
- Knowledge of CDT codes
- Hygiene scheduling experience

- Expected hours: 40.0 per week
Compensation
- Salary: USD 20 - 30 per hour
- Pay range: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
