Job Description

Capitol Federal is recruiting a Financial Advisor to oversee an individual investment portfolio, nurture investment relationships, and advance relationship banking through deposit products and related services in Overland Park, Kansas. This role emphasizes providing strategic guidance on retirement and tax planning, income management, and investment objectives, while delivering attentive client service and coordinating with various bank departments to help clients reach their financial goals.

Responsibilities

  • Sell securities to corporate clients, banks, individuals, partnerships, foundations, or trust customers in line with their objectives or when new needs arise.
  • Counsel clients on investment topics including retirement planning, tax planning, income management, suitability, and investment objectives.
  • Maintain and service existing client accounts by answering market questions, evaluating portfolios, offering investment guidance, and acting as a liaison with other bank departments.
  • Conduct investment-related research on products, market trends, and the economy.
  • Develop and maintain a personal marketing plan to identify target markets, prospect new clients, and grow the portfolio of current clients.
  • Monitor production activity and ensure achievement of individual sales goals.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to meet departmental and company objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and bank policies and procedures.
  • Follow all safety policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Report unsafe activities to a supervisor and/or Human Resources.

Requirements

  • A college degree and a professional certificate or a postgraduate degree.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Current Series 7 and 66 (or Series 63 and 65), plus MSRB Series 52 and State of Kansas life insurance licenses.

Experience

  • Three to five years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to sell and negotiate financial products.
  • A high level of trust, credibility, and diplomacy is required. The role involves nuanced discussions with customers, colleagues, and external partners, and communications may involve motivating, influencing, educating and advising on significant matters.
