Responsibilities
- Support the Financial Planning & Budgets office in managing auxiliary budgets of $100 million.
- Manage, plan and record the UGII budgets of $1 million.
- Process data from Banner HR and Banner Finance, including assisting with the salary increase workflow and supporting the Anaplan Budget and Forecasting system.
- Provide backup for other budget analysts, including overseeing operations and maintenance of facilities funding as needed and assisting with upgrades and testing of automated systems.
- Familiarize with Auxiliary and UGII budget workbooks, document relevant financial notes, and review auxiliary statements for irregularities or inaccuracies.
Requirements
- Mid-career profile with a Master’s degree and 1-2 years of experience, or a Bachelor’s degree with 2-4 years of experience.
- Analytical thinking, decision-making, problem solving, and the ability to compile a wide variety of financial data.
- Familiarity with Auxiliary and UGII budget workbooks.
- Ability to document appropriate financial notes and review auxiliary statements for irregularities or inaccuracies.

Unit Context
The Financial Planning & Budgets unit provides basic information and guidance to all departments and offices of the University concerning the establishment, revision, reporting, administration and control of budgets as directed by the Chancellor, Board of Governors, State Budget Director and North Carolina General Statutes. The office coordinates the preparation of the biennial budget request and administers budgets for auxiliary operations, the Chancellor’s allocation of unrestricted gifts and investment income, student fees and overhead receipts. It also plays an integral role in issuing bonds to finance self supporting construction projects and prepares financial projections for auxiliary operations and student fees. Budgetary administration of state and trust accounts follows state policy, with ultimate accountability delegated by the Chancellor to the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration.
