The Patient Financial Navigator supports patient access to care by tracking and collecting patients’ financial responsibilities while helping ensure insurance coverage is current and aligned with the appropriate services. Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute is seeking a team member for the St. Pete Office, with onsite work and a focus on daily Managed Care and Patient Financial Navigator duties.
Role Overview
This position monitors and collects financial responsibilities for patients, verifies that insurance benefits remain up to date in system records, and reviews services to confirm they match diagnosis and insurance coverage requirements. The role also completes daily tasks tied to Managed Care and Patient Financial Navigator workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and collect patients’ financial responsibilities.
- Maintain patients’ insurance benefits in OncoEMR and Centricity.
- Review patients’ services for diagnosis alignment and insurance coverage appropriateness.
- Perform the daily tasks associated with Managed Care and Patient Financial Navigator responsibilities.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience in a healthcare field, preferably in a clinical setting or business office.
- Excellent verbal and communication skills.
- Understanding of medical terminology.
- Knowledge of managed care authorization process.
- Working knowledge of ICD10 codes.
- Collection experience.
- Ability to calculate and collect patients’ responsibility, including insurance co-pay/coinsurance.
