Job Description

Covenant Wealth Advisors is a fee-only, fiduciary, and independent firm built for advisors who want to focus on high-quality planning and long-term client trust. This hybrid role in Williamsburg, VA pairs meaningful client work with a team-supported planning model, no cold calling, and a compensation structure tied to firm growth.

Compensation and benefits

  • Base salary: $110,000 to $167,500 per year, depending on experience and the amount of revenue you may currently manage.
  • Bonus: Quarterly revenue-sharing bonus tied to firm growth, generally 10% to 15% of base salary.
  • 401(k): 4% employer match.

What you’ll do

You will serve as the primary advisor for your client families, covering retirement income planning, Roth conversion analysis, Social Security timing, tax optimization, investment management, and estate coordination. Client meetings will focus on understanding what families are trying to accomplish and determining whether Covenant Wealth Advisors is the right fit.

  • Act as the main point of contact for retirement income planning, Roth conversion analysis, Social Security timing, tax optimization, investment management, and estate coordination.
  • Meet with pre-qualified prospects sourced through the firm’s marketing and referral network.
  • Collaborate with an in-house CPA, EA, associate advisors, and paraplanners on complex situations.
  • Help improve how the firm works, including processes, client experience, and outcomes.

How the caseload ramps

  • Year one: about half your time meeting new families and half serving clients who join.
  • As your book grows, the balance shifts toward serving established clients.
  • At full capacity: approximately 100 to 115 households, supported by associate advisors and a service team, with most of your week spent with clients you know well and a smaller, steady flow of new introductions.
  • The firm staffs to your known capacity.

Requirements

  • Active CFP® certification in good standing.
  • 3+ years advising affluent clients on comprehensive financial planning and investment management.
  • Deep working knowledge of retirement income planning for households with $1 million to $10 million+ invested.
  • Ability to explain an evidence-based investment approach and defend it in a bear market.
  • Strong listening and clear writing; build trust through competence.

  • MoneyGuide Pro, Holistiplan, Tamarac, Wealthbox, YCharts
  • Schwab and Fidelity custody

Planning model and working style

  • No cold calling

Helpful (not required)

  • CPA, ChFC, EA, or CFA
  • Prior experience at a fee-only RIA
  • Experience with MoneyGuide Pro, Holistiplan, Tamarac, or Wealthbox

Hiring process
