Job Description

KeyBank National Association seeks a Senior Data Scientist to lead quantitative modeling and analytics of financial crimes, covering data identification and gathering, method selection, performance assessment, documentation, and ongoing monitoring within AML, BSA, and OFAC compliance programs.

Location and Work Arrangement

Cleveland, OH, hybrid work model.

Experience and Education Requirements

Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is required. A Master’s or Ph.D. in statistics, mathematics, economics, computer science, data sciences, predictive modeling, or other quantitative disciplines is required. Candidates with a bachelor's degree and 4 years of applicable experience will also be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Under the supervisor's oversight, conduct a broad range of quantitative work, including model development and ad hoc analytics to meet financial crime compliance needs in AML, BSA, and OFAC.
  • Research, compile, and evaluate large data sets to assess quality and suitability for model building.
  • Develop and maintain internal models and test or configure vendor solutions to ensure sound design, proper implementation, and acceptable performance.
  • Document the model development process and outcomes and support model validation and review.
  • Apply innovative techniques to improve model effectiveness and efficiency, such as reducing false positives.
  • Proactively enhance technical skills and business knowledge, and collaborate effectively with compliance, technology, and risk partners.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Solid expertise in traditional modeling approaches and Machine Learning / Artificial Intelligence techniques.
  • Hands-on experience with statistical coding in SAS and/or Python.
  • Knowledge of traditional databases, cloud-based computing, and distributed computing.
  • Understanding of financial crime regulatory requirements, technology, and data analysis best practices.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and visual communication skills with the ability to translate technical observations for non-technical audiences.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary range: USD 94,000 - 175,000 per year. Eligibility for incentive compensation may include production, commission, and discretionary incentives.

Under the manager's supervision, the Senior Data Scientist is primarily responsible for conducting quantitative modeling and analytics of financial crimes. This role leverages current and emerging technologies to support all facets of model development and analytics, including data identification and gathering, methodology selection, performance evaluation, documentation, and ongoing monitoring.
