Financial Planner - Career Changer Opportunity

Northwestern Mutual Syracuse is seeking a Financial Planner to support individuals and businesses in planning for long-term financial security. In this onsite role, you will partner with clients to understand their goals and concerns, then build tailored insurance and financial planning strategies designed to fit their needs.

You will work within a district office environment that emphasizes training, mentorship, and ongoing professional development, including support for the licensing steps needed to succeed in financial services.

Compensation

• USD 61,000 - 80,000 per year

About the Role

As a Financial Planner, you will help clients work toward their financial goals using personalized insurance solutions and comprehensive planning. The position focuses on building long-term client relationships, learning each client’s unique situation, and implementing tailored strategies that align with their objectives.

Responsibilities

• Meet with clients to understand their financial goals, aspirations, and concerns
• Create comprehensive financial plans covering investments, insurance, and retirement
• Recommend and implement insurance strategies to protect clients’ assets and income
• Monitor plans over time, providing regular updates and adjusting strategies as circumstances change
• Grow and maintain a client network through referrals, community involvement, and professional associations

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or a related field (preferred)
• Prior experience in financial services, insurance, or business development is beneficial but not required
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, analytical thinking, and the ability to build trust and rapport
• Obtain necessary licenses, such as Series 6, 63, and state insurance licenses (training and sponsorship available)
