Job Description
The Principal Financial Analyst supports Abbott Laboratories’ Heart Failure business unit from the Pleasanton, California campus, focusing on financial planning, analysis, reporting, and month-end close activities, including long-range business planning forecasting.
Responsibilities
- Lead financial planning and analysis for the Heart Failure unit, covering budgeting and forecasting, profit and loss, market modeling, sales analysis, business development, gross margin, capital, currency effects, price and volume variance, headcount, and other aspects of the HF P&L.
- Execute month-end close with detailed variance analysis against LBE, working collaboratively with Geo FP&A teams.
- Develop flexible tools and templates to facilitate consolidation and timely completion of corporate schedules, and design system solutions and process improvements to meet FP&A and reporting needs.
- Maintain an efficient planning process for the division and supported functional areas, coordinating a planning calendar with key dates and deliverables.
- Collaborate with key geographies to consolidate month-end, LBE, Plan analysis, and commentary for the respective financial cycle.
- Prepare consolidated reporting, presentations, and analyses for quarterly LBE cycles.
- Contribute to ad hoc analyses and reporting as required by finance management.
- Provide routine management reports leveraging expertise in finance systems and knowledge of the HF business.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a related field.
- Five to eight years of related experience.
- Experience with EssBase (Dodeca) and Hyperion.
- Solid understanding of the principles, processes, and standards for comprehensive financial analysis and reporting.
- Proficiency with MS Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, and strong familiarity with relevant financial systems applications.
- Ability to operate effectively in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
- Capable of functioning both as a team member and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, evolving setting.
- Skill in leveraging and coordinating with others to complete projects.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities, with the capacity to convey information at multiple levels of the organization.

Compensation
Annual salary range: USD 100,000 to 200,000.
