Senior Data Analyst (Financial Services)
Job Description
At Capital One, the Senior Data Analyst (Financial Services) role focuses on turning complex data into usable capabilities that support business decisions. You will apply analytic and technical expertise to innovate, build, and maintain well-governed data solutions across Innovation, Business Intelligence, and Data Management.
What you’ll do
- Use Open Source and digital technologies to mine complex, large-scale, and varied data sources and platforms
- Design and maintain well-managed data solutions, tools, and capabilities that support self-service for data consumers
- Demonstrate the ability to learn new technologies quickly to advance multiple initiatives
- Partner with business stakeholders to consult and translate needs into tools, techniques, metrics, and dashboards for insights and data visualization
- Lead analysis that supports meaningful insights into business strategy
- Support data quality management practices, including metadata, lineage, and business definitions
- Collaborate with relevant Tech teams to manage security mechanisms and data access governance
- Build and execute tools to monitor and report on data quality
Minimum qualifications
- Degree specialized in a Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics discipline
- Scripting experience with Python, R, Spark, and SQL
- Experience working with data in different forms, including data warehouses/SQL and unstructured data
- Experience utilizing and developing with AWS services
- Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative field plus at least 2 years of experience performing data analytics, or currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a Master’s Degree with expectation it will be obtained on or before the scheduled start date
- At least 1 year of experience working with at least one scripting language
- At least 1 year of experience using a business intelligence visualization tool
- At least 1 year of experience querying, analyzing, and working with data languages and platforms

Preferred qualifications
- Master’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics discipline
- At least 2 years of experience coding in Python, R, Spark, or SQL
- At least 2 years of experience working within process management and improvement methodologies such as Agile, Lean, or Six Sigma
- At least 1 year of experience utilizing and developing within AWS services
- At least 1 year of experience with data governance and data quality management concepts, including experience with data quality tools (for example, Informatica DQ)
Compensation and benefits
Salary range: USD 101,100 - 115,400 per year. The role includes a comprehensive, competitive, and inclusive set of health, financial, and other benefits designed to support overall well-being. Performance-based incentive compensation may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI), with incentives potentially discretionary or non-discretionary based on the plan.
Location: Plano, TX (onsite).
