Benjamin West seeks a Director of Finance and Accounting to lead the project accounting function, deliver comprehensive financial reporting for the company, oversee HR activities with the PEO, and partner with the CFO to implement the organization’s financial and HR strategies. This role is based onsite in Louisville, Colorado.
Responsibilities
- Manage corporate accounting operations, including monthly close, reconciliations, and the preparation of financial statements.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes to improve financial reporting and overall efficiency.
- Ensure adherence to GAAP, tax regulations, and internal control frameworks.
- Coordinate with external partners such as the CPA firm, the PEO, banking contacts, and the insurance carrier.
- Oversee HR functions and serve as the primary liaison with the PEO.
- Manage payroll submissions to the PEO.
- Direct the project accounting team to service 400 plus annual projects, ensuring proper handling of bank accounts and timely client reporting.
- Lead, develop, and mentor accounting staff members.
- Collaborate with clients to clarify project reporting, sales and use tax obligations, and historical tax credits related to their projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA or MBA preferred.
- Minimum 8 years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including leadership roles.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Solid understanding of sales and use tax across multiple states.
- High integrity, professionalism, and the ability to influence across all levels.

Position overview
The Director of Finance and Accounting is charged with managing the project accounting team, delivering the company’s financial reporting, overseeing HR activities with the PEO, and assisting the CFO in implementing the overall financial and HR strategies of the organization.
Reporting
This role reports to the Chief Financial Officer.
Compensation
Salary range: USD 120,000 to 150,000 per year.
