Job Description

The Advisory Mastery Program (AMP) at Raymond James Financial, Inc. is designed to train and support trainees as they build the skills and momentum needed to become successful Financial Advisors. The program combines education, practical training, and ongoing mentorship focused on both technical knowledge and sales execution, with production targets established after the first year.

Location

  • Gaylord, MI (onsite)

What You’ll Do

  • Build a client pipeline through prospecting, networking, community involvement, centers of influence, and developing specific niches.
  • Manage the full scope of the client relationship by evaluating financial needs, investment opportunities, current holdings, and available investment capital, then helping clients define investment objectives.
  • Recommend investment products, solutions, and services aligned to predetermined client needs, time horizons, risk profile, and preferences.
  • Use internal resources to identify investment opportunities and solutions for clients.
  • Develop a book of business that aligns with AMP program goals for assets under management and required production.
  • Complete required program training and assignments, including obtaining mandatory industry licenses within prescribed timeframes, mastering assessments, and meeting minimum performance and production standards.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Program and License Path

  • Complete training to effectively and efficiently function in the Financial Advisor role, including required industry licensing.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum experience: 4 years
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) preferred
  • Residence: Resident
  • Travel: Less than 25%

Licenses and Exams

  • SIE: Required, or an exemption or grandfathering cannot be applied, or the ability to obtain within 4 months from start of program.
  • Series 7 and 66: Either held already or ability to obtain within 4 months from start of program.
  • Life, Health and Variable Annuity: Either held already or ability to obtain within 6 months from start of program.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, financial markets, banking, and analysis and reporting of financial data; also basic methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services.
  • Skill in preparing and delivering clear, effective, and professional presentations, and in communication and interpersonal approaches that build client relationships.
  • Excellent problem solving skills to identify client needs through effective questioning and listening.
  • Ability to demonstrate persistence in the face of obstacles and maintain optimism through rejection.
  • Ability to accept criticism and respond calmly and effectively in high stress situations, including communicating portfolio losses while preserving client loyalty.
  • Ability to provide high level client service with a focus on what’s best for clients’ personal wealth management.
  • Ability to network in the community and market both self and Raymond James.
