Job Description
Based in Sacramento, California, this on-site Finance Analyst role supports Meritage Homes Corporation's Northern California Division with financial analysis, budgeting and forecasting, reporting, and land acquisition analytics to drive residential development efforts.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Phoenix team with financial analysis and reporting, contributing to division-wide operations and the Land Acquisition program.
- Examine monthly financial statements, margin pro formas, backlog reports, and other key performance indicators.
- Support the development and review of quarterly forecasts and the annual business plan.
- Produce supplementary reports and analyses for management.
- Support pricing updates, lot releases, and MLS updates.
- Prepare monthly lot takedown reports.
- Develop monthly pro forma updates and document variance explanations in writing.
- Coordinate monthly budget meetings with other departments.
- Assist in gathering, compiling, and analyzing information to evaluate land under consideration for purchase to develop residential for-sale communities.
- Draft assigned sections of the Corporate Land Acquisition Approval Package.
- Perform ad hoc analyses as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting; CPA designation or Master's degree is a plus.
- 2 to 3 years of finance or accounting experience.
- Experience in the homebuilding industry is a plus but not required.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office applications.
- Strong Excel skills with the ability to build scenario analyses and model spreadsheets efficiently.
- Hands-on experience with budgeting and forecasting software; JD Edwards and SAP/Business Objects experience is preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with strong interpersonal skills and a customer-service orientation.
- Ability to convey complex information and procedures in a clear, accessible manner.
