Job Description

This position with the State of Michigan supports budget planning and financial forecasting through annual spending plan development, quarterly projection preparation, and ongoing monitoring of assigned appropriations. The role also supports program management with technical financial information and establishes account coding and reporting processes.

Role Overview

The Financial Analyst will create and oversee annual spending plans and develop quarterly financial projections. The position includes monitoring and correcting revenue and expenditure activity for designated appropriations. In addition, the analyst will help set up account coding and reporting systems and provide technical information to program management related to assigned appropriations.

Location and Work Schedule Information

The role is based in Lansing, MI (remote). Occasional travel to the office at 235 S Grand Ave., Lansing, MI 48933 may be required.

Employees will be provided computers to perform state work, and phones may also be provided for necessary communications. If working remotely, employees are responsible for providing additional components of a remote office at their own expense, including a secure work location with privacy and minimal distractions, a high-speed internet connection of at least 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload, and suitable lighting, furniture, and utilities.

Selected candidates approved for remote or hybrid work must complete the work within Michigan. Candidates should confirm their work location and schedule at the time of interview.

Compensation

USD 4,136 - 6,481 per month

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience: Two years of professional experience providing a systematic review, analysis, interpretation, and/or evaluation of budgets, mortgages, loans, or other financial data, equivalent to a Financial Analyst, including one year equivalent to a Financial Analyst 10
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree with at least 12 semester (18 term) credits in accounting, finance, or economics (or a combination totaling those credits)

Signing Bonus

New Employees may be paid a signing bonus of up to $2,500, with up to $1,250 at hire and up to $1,250 after satisfactory completion of the initial probationary period.

Alternate Education and Experience
