Financial Auditor

National Fuel Gas Company is hiring a Financial Auditor for its Audit department in Williamsville, NY (onsite). This role combines financial, operational, and compliance auditing with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) testing, plus the chance to partner with management to support remediation and continuous improvements. Base pay ranges from $75,000 to $105,000 annually, with eligibility for an Annual Cash Bonus Plan for exempt positions.

What you will do

• Plan, perform, and document financial, operational, and compliance audits in accordance with departmental standards and professional guidance
• Conduct SOX testing, including walkthroughs, evaluating control design and effectiveness, and assessing identified exceptions
• Identify opportunities to strengthen controls and improve business processes, then communicate recommendations to management
• Partner with members of management to discuss controls and audit results, support remediation efforts, and provide advisory input when requested
• Support external auditor needs in connection with the Company’s annual financial statement audit
• Participate in special projects, investigations, and advisory engagements as requested by management

What you bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field (minimum requirement)
• Working knowledge of accounting and auditing practices, principles, and procedures
• Exceptional verbal and written communication, with the ability to work in a deadline-driven environment

Preferred qualifications

• CPA, CIA, or other relevant professional certification (or active pursuit)
• 7+ years in internal audit, public accounting, or a combination of both
• Experience with SOX compliance and internal controls over financial reporting
• Experience using data analytics, automation, or AI to support audit planning, testing, or analysis

Compensation, bonus, and pay range notes

The base salary range for this position is $75,000 – $105,000. Exempt positions are also eligible for an Annual Cash Bonus Plan. The pay range reflects what National Fuel believes, in good faith, it might be willing to pay at the time of posting, and the specific base pay offered will be based primarily on relevant professional experience. Other factors may include individual qualifications, licensures, industry experience, education, and market demands for specialized skills. The pay range is subject to change.
