Job Description

The Manager of Financial Reporting role supports a growing publicly traded organization by overseeing SEC financial reporting activities and conducting technical accounting research to support GAAP, SEC, and internal control requirements.

Role Overview

In this position, you will manage the preparation and filing of SEC financial-related documents, including technical accounting position papers and internal controls related to global accounting policies and new guidance from the FASB and the SEC.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret complex accounting issues and resolve them using established procedures under GAAP, including matters related to revenue recognition, internally developed software, and leases.
  • Conduct technical research and analysis of appropriate accounting treatment and adapt known methods as business needs evolve.
  • Provide recommendations to executive management regarding action or changes to established methods.
  • Ensure compliance with SEC reporting rules by preparing and filing required documents accurately and on time.
  • Prepare and review Form 10-Q, Form 10-K, and other SEC filings, including financial statements (balance sheets, income statements, statements of shareholders’ equity, and statements of cash flows), footnote disclosures, and MD&A.
  • Assist with the development, maintenance, and compliance of internal controls connected to global accounting policies and newly issued accounting and reporting guidance.
  • Prepare Press Release financials, including GAAP to Non-GAAP reconciliations.
  • Research and draft position papers for technical accounting topics and evaluate the financial impact of pending or new accounting pronouncements.
  • Prepare equity-related calculations and disclosures, including share-based compensation expense, earnings per share, and related equity disclosures for inclusion in Form 10-Q and Form 10-K filings.
  • Support compliance with Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX 404) by maintaining effective internal controls over the financial reporting process.
  • Continuously improve and streamline reporting processes and controls.
  • Support ad-hoc projects, primarily involving M&A, systems implementations, and revenue.

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. or B.A. in Accounting
  • CPA
  • 6+ years of relevant experience, including experience at a Big 4 or mid-tier public accounting firm or at a publicly traded company
  • Excellent analytical, technical, and auditing skills, including proficiency with U.S. GAAP and FASB standards
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

Compensation and Work Arrangement

  • Location: Downers Grove, IL (hybrid)
  • Salary: USD 130,000 to 150,000 per year
