Job Description

The Project Financial Analyst serves as a financial partner at the project level, representing the FP&A function and connecting project stakeholders across the PMO, Software, and Accounting. The role supports budgeting, spend monitoring, billing reconciliation, and project performance forecasting for major initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Project Managers to maintain timely, accurate project financial data flow into company systems and reporting.
  • Advise the PMO on the appropriate structure and classification of projects and project documentation within the ERP system.
  • Own Project Progress Projections (PPPs), ensuring cost projection information is communicated from Project Managers into company-wide forecasts.
  • Coordinate with Accounting and the PMO to identify and resolve project finance-related issues.
  • Evaluate project risk and analyze program variances against budget.
  • Support forecasting activities, including project budget development and forecasting data management.
  • Maintain up-to-date visibility into the financial status, major concerns, and overall progress of major projects, and communicate these insights clearly to management.
  • Attend PMO meetings and interact regularly with Project Managers and management regarding project financial matters.
  • Perform project closeout reviews to analyze project performance and confirm data accuracy.
  • Monitor project milestones and Accounts Receivable to verify timely and accurate invoicing.
  • Track and assess project spend versus budget, including ROI and debt-to-income ratio analysis.

Required Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in finance or accounting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting (or a related field) preferred.
  • Experience with Percent of Completion accounting, commonly used in construction, engineering consulting, or other project-based environments.
  • Thorough understanding of project management best practices.
  • Ability to work effectively across all organizational levels and translate financial information for non-financial personnel.
  • Efficient learner with the ability to pick up new software and systems quickly, along with strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills and excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication.
