Senior Associate, Corporate Finance
Job Description
Forbright Bank is seeking a Senior Associate, Corporate Finance to support corporate lending through underwriting review and ongoing portfolio oversight. This hybrid role in Chevy Chase, MD helps manage credit throughout the life of each loan, partnering across internal teams and with external parties to support sound investment decisions.
In this position, you will review new loan transactions and then stay engaged after closing, contributing to monitoring, credit discussions, and documentation that keeps the bank’s understanding of risk and key terms up to date.
How you will support the lending lifecycle
- Participate in meetings with private equity sponsors and borrowers to build company understanding
- Prepare and review materials such as confidential investment memorandums, management and lender presentations, and other transaction documents
- Prepare and review third-party diligence reports, including quality of earnings, industry and market studies, operational diligence, environmental diligence, and related work
- Review and analyze financial statements, sponsor models, and other relevant financial information to understand business trends (including segment performance and customer growth)
- Contribute to amendments, waivers, and restructurings for borrowers within the assigned portfolio
- Assess investment thesis support and risk factors, and document mitigating factors related to business performance and credit structure
- Conduct industry research to evaluate macro trends and the competitive environment affecting portfolio companies
- Create and write detailed investment memorandums outlining the opportunity
- Assist in reviewing legal documents to confirm the bank’s understanding of key business terms, working with external legal counsel to document final investment terms
- Actively monitor the assigned portfolio, including real-time credit discussions and scheduled quarterly reviews throughout the loan term
- Ensure timely receipt of deliverables and maintain the credit file for the assigned portfolio
- Support BancAlliance, a network of community banks advised by Alliance Partners, a subsidiary of Forbright Bank
- Perform other duties as assigned
What you bring
- High School Diploma (or GED) required
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred, with a focus on accounting, finance, economics, or another quantitative discipline
- Minimum 4 years of experience in public accounting, financial consulting, valuation, leveraged finance, investment banking, or another finance or accounting area
- Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
- Knowledge of finance and accounting, including financial statement analysis
- Understanding of debt finance products and services, including risk management and credit quality across industry sectors
- Ability to work under pressure on multiple projects while meeting deadlines
- Skill in synthesizing information from multiple sources and considering distinct viewpoints
- Strong Excel-based modeling skills preferred
- Familiarity with CapitalIQ, Pitchbook, Bloomberg, and other market data sources preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Outstanding problem-solving and time management skills
- Self-motivated, self-directed, results-oriented, adaptable, and able to multitask
- Ability to work independently and within a team in a solution-oriented, collaborative manner

- Salary: USD 50 - 50 per hourly
