Job Description

EAH Housing seeks a Senior Finance and Budget Analyst to manage enterprise-wide budgeting, forecasting, executive reporting, KPI development, and Power BI analytics to support Real Estate Development and portfolio management. This is a full-time, hybrid role based in San Rafael, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Owns the organization-wide annual budget process, overseeing calendar, templates, assumptions, department support, consolidation, review cycles, and final presentation materials.
  • Leads monthly and quarterly forecast cycles, maintains rolling forecasts as appropriate, coordinates updates with department leaders, and ensures budget deliverables are accurate, timely, and decision-ready.
  • Performs variance analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual operating results for EAH Corporate and portfolio-related functions; identifies drivers of variance and collaborates with department heads and the Executive Team to implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Develops budget narratives and performance metrics that tie spending to program and portfolio outcomes; standardizes KPI definitions, data sources, and reporting protocols.
  • Owns executive-level reporting for Real Estate Development, including dashboards and reporting packs that reveal pipeline, milestones, financing status, predevelopment spend, sources/uses summaries, and risk/issue tracking.
  • Designs, builds, and maintains Power BI dashboards and data models; establishes automated refresh processes; ensures data integrity, governance, and reproducibility of executive reporting.
  • Supports the Property Budget Process by coordinating templates, timelines, assumptions, roll-ups, and review materials; progressive ownership of workflow standardization, quality control, training, and continuous improvement.
  • Develops portfolio and benchmark analytics tools to review management portfolio performance; identifies opportunities for improvement and supports enhanced Executive Team review of Watch List properties and properties outside established benchmarks.
  • Utilizes Yardi and other internal systems to create consistent data sets for budgeting, forecasting, and KPI reporting; develops controls and documentation to support a single source of truth.
  • Collaborates with Real Estate Department and project managers to assist in pro forma work and long-term financial planning, including scenario analysis, validation of assumptions, and standardization of model outputs.
  • Acts as a senior finance partner to department leaders, identifying budget drivers, constraints, and risks; drives accountability to deadlines and standards without direct authority.
  • Prepares executive-ready summaries and presentations for the Executive Team and other stakeholders; translates complex financial results into clear, concise narratives.
  • Continuously refines budgeting procedures, workflow, and reporting cadence; recommends improvements to processes, templates, and controls to enhance accuracy, speed, and transparency.
  • Conducts research projects as requested; maintains supporting files, documentation, and process guides; supports the CFO and Executive Team on special projects and assignments.
  • Complies with all EAH safety guidelines and policies and actively participates in the Injury and Illness Prevention Plan.
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related field.
  • Seven years of progressively responsible FP&A or financial analysis experience, including ownership of budgeting and forecasting cycles; experience in affordable housing, real estate development, or property operations/asset management is preferred.
  • Experience developing executive-level reporting packages and dashboards, with strong preference for Power BI and Power Query.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities. May provide functional guidance, training, and support to peers and cross-departmental contributors during budget cycles and reporting initiatives.

Criminal Background Check Requirements

EAH Housing conducts criminal background checks on all candidates who have received a conditional job offer. Education and employment history are verified, and any verified discrepancies may delay results or affect eligibility. Some roles may require fingerprinting based on legal requirements.

Drug Testing

Candidates who receive a conditional offer must submit to drug testing within 72 hours of acceptance. EAH does not test for marijuana or cannabis.

Experience
