Senior Financial Analyst – Quant

Latham & Watkins LLP is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst – Quant to join the firm’s Global Finance team. In this role, you will support transactional matters for Corporate Department practice groups by building quantitative financial models and producing client-ready analysis to help guide deal decisions.

Working closely with lawyer deal teams across New York and Downtown Los Angeles, you will develop models used for proformas, liquidation waterfalls, and other transaction analytics, while partnering with internal stakeholders to clarify data, methods, and key assumptions.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and refine client-ready financial models, clearly communicating analysis and outputs to partners, associates, and external clients involved in transactions.
• Support internal deal teams and clients with analysis, responding to questions about underlying data, analytical approaches, and assumptions used in the work product.
• Join firm learning sessions by participating in education classes for lawyers focused on quantitative analysis and financial modeling.
• Maintain and update training materials, including reference guides, training presentations, a library of training exercises, and tip sheets; help train and mentor other analysts.
• Promote effective work practices as a team member and demonstrate respect for coworkers.
• Protect and maintain highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information retained by Latham & Watkins.

About the Role

• Provide quantitative financial modeling for transactional deals supporting Corporate Department practice groups: Emerging Companies & Growth, Capital Markets, Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A), and Private Equity.
• Build transaction models including pro forma capitalizations, liquidation waterfalls, merger consideration spreadsheets, voting models, and IPO beneficial ownership models.
• Collaborate closely with lawyer deal teams.
• Be based in either the New York office or the Global Services office in Downtown Los Angeles.
• May be eligible for a flexible working schedule that supports hybrid and in-office presence.

Required Qualifications

• Strong financial modeling, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities, including the ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations.
• Well-developed professional interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to interact effectively across organizational levels.
• Ability to work independently to research, analyze, and develop financial information.
• Bachelor’s degree (economics, finance, accounting, business administration, management, or related field) or equivalent.
• Financial or investment industry qualification, preferably CFA.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in financial analysis, corporate finance, consulting, or M&A, preferably in a professional services organization.
• Minimum 5 years of cumulative experience.
• Experience on transactional engagements in a time-sensitive, fast-paced environment, preferably.

Compensation

Salary Range: USD 145,000 - 160,000 per year.
