Sr Financial Analyst

The Senior Financial Analyst role at UMass Memorial Health Care is an onsite position in Worcester, MA. This role focuses on collecting and interpreting financial data to support operating and capital budgets, forecasts, and performance metrics, while collaborating with executives and managers across the system.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with customers, managers, vice presidents and administrators to proactively understand needs, resolve inquiries, and provide training on multiple financial systems and reports.
• Develops strong working proficiency with forecasting and budgeting software, supporting efficient navigation and assisting with system quality assurance, testing, and maintenance as needed.
• Conducts ad hoc and routine variance analyses and audits, working with stakeholders to implement corrective actions to meet financial targets.
• Extracts data from financial systems as required, and designs, prepares, and reviews scheduled and ad hoc reports for presentation and ongoing evaluation.
• Performs additional duties such as identifying forecasting assumptions, assisting with the annual operating plan, and reconciling data from multiple financial systems.
• Participates in committees and work teams on budget-related projects; may assist management with feasibility studies, market analysis and business plans.
• Trains and mentors other Financial Analysts.
• May manage external contracts and revenues, including contract analysis, income review, funding, grant monies, cash collection and invoicing.
• May process DEFAs and change forms, resolve payroll discrepancies with the Medical Group and Medical School, coordinate moonlighting and sign-on related reimbursements, and oversee departmental purchasing and payables documents.

Education and Experience

• Education: Bachelor’s degree with a major or concentration in Health Care Administration, Math, Data Science, Economics, Finance, Accounting or related field. An MBA in Finance is preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of directly relevant work experience in finance.
• Knowledge and Skills: Understanding of financial management concepts; ability to contribute to financial plan development; familiarity with accounting principles and financial statements.
• Technical: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced Excel modeling; strong analytical and interpersonal abilities; capable of presenting solutions to non-financial managers and managing multiple projects.
• Preferred: MBA in Finance; knowledge of discounted cash flows; familiarity with hospital or healthcare delivery systems, forecasting and budgeting; broad experience with computer-based financial techniques.

Compensation

Hourly wage range: USD 31.31 to 56.35. Final offer may vary within this range based on experience, skills, qualifications and internal equity considerations.

Schedule and Location

Location: Worcester, MA onsite.

Work days: Thursday and Tuesday.

Scheduled hours: 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Shift: Day shift, 8 hours.
