Sr. Financial Analyst
Job Description
The Senior Financial Analyst at Higginbotham supports renewal underwriting and benefits analytics by translating financial risk, plan structure, and funding scenarios into actionable insights for producers, account management, and clients. This onsite role in Dallas focuses on delivering renewal projections, funding feasibility evaluations, and clear explanations that support negotiation strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate the financial risk of medical and ancillary benefits for existing clients and prospective clients.
- Communicate with internal and external customers using web-based tools.
- Use group experience and demographic analysis to inform future strategies, including plan changes, stop loss levels, funding changes, and contribution structures.
- Create RFPs for carriers and manage the financial components of the renewal process.
- Evaluate and explain financial analyses to internal benefit analysts and producers.
- Present financial analyses and strategies to external clients.
Required Qualifications
- Underwriting experience required, preferably with large group experience.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUPs, formulas, charts, graphs, and pivot tables.
- Strong knowledge of multiple health plan funding arrangements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills.
- Understanding of the client, broker, and carrier relationship.
- Proven experience managing time effectively across various positions.
- Proficiency with computer applications and CRM data entry systems.
- Demonstrated commitment to superior customer service and building client loyalty.
- Proficiency in mentoring, training, and presentation skills.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Undergraduate degree desired but not required.
- 5+ years of industry-specific experience.
- Underwriting and experience rating background with understanding of funding arrangements, including fully insured, level-funded, and self-funded, preferably with large group experience.
Systems and Tools
- Microsoft Excel, including advanced features such as VLOOKUPs and pivot tables.
- Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Outlook.
- Web-based tools and CRM data entry systems.
- Claros experience is a plus.
- Microsoft Excel and related tools are supported by proficiency with various AI models (helpful).
