Job Description
EY is seeking a Tax Manager to support its State and Local Tax (SALT) practice within the Financial Services Organization (FSO). In this role, you will manage multiple tax engagements while delivering state and local income tax planning and compliance work for clients in the financial services industry.
Based in New York, NY, this position follows a hybrid work model and includes travel as needed.
Role overview
- Manage multiple state and local tax engagements and help deliver planning and compliance services for financial services industry clients.
- Apply EY methodologies and tools to support service delivery and contribute to overall team success.
- Bring a continuous improvement mindset by challenging traditional procedures and identifying new approaches to tax service delivery.
What you will do
- Build client relationships and use your knowledge of the real estate industry to support engagement outcomes.
- Develop and guide junior tax professionals through performance feedback, on-the-job training, and consistent assignment of team responsibilities aligned to skills and developmental goals.
- Stay current on state and local tax developments and help develop innovative service offerings that create value for clients.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in accounting, finance, or economics, plus 5 years of related work experience.
- CPA certification, or good standing as a member of a state bar.
- Strong tax technical skills, including tax research and writing, flow-through entity taxation, income and franchise taxes, transfer taxes, and compliance work across multi-state jurisdictions.
- Project management experience delivering high-quality work products in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in a professional services environment.
- Willingness to travel as needed and ability to work in a balanced hybrid environment.

Compensation and benefits
- Salary range (all geographic locations in the US): USD 105,100 to $192,600.
- Salary range (New York City Metro Area, Washington State, and California excluding Sacramento): USD 126,100 to $218,900.
- Individual compensation within the ranges is based on factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography.
