What you’ll do
The Financial Analyst partners with the Divisional Finance Lead (DFL) to complete moderate to complex financial analysis, maintain funding records and financial models, and support recurring close and forecasting activities. The work connects position planning and compensation analytics with budget, reporting, controls, and divisional business processes.
- Use professional concepts to perform moderate to complex financial analysis supporting position planning and compensation and position data analytics.
- Provide analytical support for complex budget, financial, or resource analysis projects.
- Support the divisional budget process and the campus budget process, including assisting the DFL with department budget allocations.
- Gather, analyze, and summarize information to support financial and resource plans, including allocation approaches, trended future requirements, operating forecasts, and sources and uses.
- Generate, modify, or design financial and resource reports, including analysis and forecasting for staff and faculty salary budgets, contracts, grants, gifts, endowments, and user fees.
- Partner with the DFL to ensure internal controls are addressed, maintained, and strengthened to protect University resources.
- Conduct complex financial or resource research and studies for internal department constituents, including periodic financial reports and recurring salary budget support.
- Support financial and/or resource analysis such as budget and financial analysis, forecasts and projections, staff or faculty salary or FTE analysis, enrollment analysis, and recharge or general rate analysis (including parking rates, copier rates, capital project rates, and student health charges), as well as student fees and related topics.
- Prepare, review, and/or approve financial transactions related to divisional billing and procurement, and support control unit travel and entertainment reviews.
- Support quarterly reporting and document procedures for financial activities.
- Perform UCPath transactional tasks under DFL supervision, and assist with recurring tasks such as monthly, quarterly, and fiscal close processes, revenue forecasting, key controls, and annual UCOP reporting as assigned.
- Respond to emergent campus stakeholder issues related to fee revenue policies and financial planning.

- Bachelor’s degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.

Compensation
The budgeted annual range the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $85,300 - $154,300. The targeted hiring range is $90,000 to $130,000, commensurate with experience.
