Job Description

Los Gatos, CA (onsite) | $160,000 - $175,000

Addison-Penzak JCC is hiring an executive-level Chief Financial Officer to partner directly with the CEO. This role combines strategic financial leadership with hands-on responsibility across forecasting, GAAP compliance, audits, investment accounting, and clear Board reporting. You will help shape stronger financial tools, models, and planning as the organization works through new capital campaign efforts and expanded community foundation opportunities.

What you’ll be responsible for

  • Lead financial operations and the systems that support financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and local, state, and federal non-profit fiscal and fiduciary guidelines.
  • Direct preparation and review of annual budgeting and forecasting for all JSV departments and initiatives.
  • Coordinate the annual independent audit, including consolidating financial statements and reviewing audited results for proper disclosures.
  • Provide leadership and efficiencies for investment accounting.
  • Serve as staff lead to the Investment and Finance Committees.
  • Present and defend the organization’s financial position reports to the Board of Directors.

What you’ll need

  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills in a not-for-profit and/or for-profit environment.
  • Experience as a senior-level finance or accounting professional in a not-for-profit and/or for-profit environment.
  • Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in business, accounting, finance, or related field.
  • CPA strongly preferred.
  • Experience with financial planning and forecasting.
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost control, internal controls, cash management, and GAAP.
  • Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and cash flow projections.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to motivate teams, produce quality materials within timeframes, and manage multiple projects.
  • Board-level experience (volunteer or other), interacting with lay leadership and participating in/facilitating committee meetings.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and provide cogent explanations of financial position to the CEO and Board.
  • Demonstrated professional and fiduciary confidentiality and judgment.

Pay: $160,000.00 - $175,000.00 per year

Work location and working conditions

  • In person work location: Fitness Center/Community Center and typical business office environment
  • Ability to sit for long periods; extensive computer and some telephone work
  • Ability to lift/carry 25 lbs
  • Typical business hours Monday through Friday, with occasional after-hours and weekend work to complete specific projects
  • Work in the vicinity of children and older adults; environment can be noisy with standard office equipment (phones, computers, printers)
