Job Description
Benton Rural Electric Association is seeking a Finance Director to lead executive-level finance functions from its brand-new West Richland, WA office. This full-time, onsite role supports the organization’s financial operations through accounting, budgeting, debt management, treasury activities, and reporting, while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
In this leadership position, you will manage Finance Department activities and personnel, set finance policies and goals under the direction of the Vice President of Energy and Finance, and help maintain strong internal controls across programs, investments, grants, and operational funds.
Role Overview
- Perform complex executive finance work covering accounting, budget, debt management, financial reporting, and treasury management.
- Oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable, along with customer service and related finance work as apparent or assigned.
- Set finance policies and goals under the direction of the Vice President of Energy and Finance.
- Provide departmental supervision over assigned personnel.
- Ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance, and adherence to applicable regulations and accounting standards.
- Maintain effective internal controls and sound management of programs, investments, grants, and operational funds.
Location and Employment
- Location: West Richland, WA (onsite)
- Employment: Full-time, permanently based in the West Richland office
Compensation
- Salary: USD 142,106 to 213,160 per year
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 6 years of accounting experience, preferably in a utility
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience that enables successful performance of essential job functions
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
Desirable Qualifications
- Master’s degree in accounting or a related field
- Experience with annual organization-wide budget processes
- Knowledge of RUS and FERC accounting practices and principles
- Financial statement preparation and analysis experience
- Strong team player; forward thinking with drive toward process improvement, efficiency, and excellence
- Strong technical aptitude
