Job Description

Based in Fort Myers, The Heights Center is a nonprofit organization focused on community development and educational programs. We seek a Finance Manager to guide financial reporting, audits, IRS Form 990 filings, insurance program oversight, and vendor contract negotiations, ensuring robust controls and transparent reporting to support our mission.

Compensation

  • Salary: USD 70,000 - 80,000 per year
  • Location: Fort Myers, FL (onsite)

Responsibilities

  • Audit & Tax Compliance: Serve as the main point of contact with external auditors to ensure timely, accurate completion of annual audits; oversee the preparation and filing of IRS Form 990 in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Financial Reporting: Produce accurate monthly financial statements (balance sheets, income statements, cash flow analyses) and manage month‑end close including journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals.
  • Insurance Management: Oversee all corporate commercial and liability insurance policies, including renewal negotiations and risk assessment.
  • Vendor Negotiations: Review, negotiate, and manage contracts with external vendors to secure cost-effective, high‑quality services.
  • Internal Controls: Maintain and strengthen internal financial controls and policies to ensure transparent and precise financial reporting.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required; CPA or MBA preferred.
  • Experience: 5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, with demonstrated experience in audit preparation and IRS Form 990 filing.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and advanced MS Excel capabilities.
  • Negotiation: Proven ability to manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts effectively.
  • Details: Strong analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail.
