Finance Subject Matter Expert (SME)

Lambert Financial, LLC is seeking a Finance Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support federal government financial management operations in Birmingham, Alabama. This onsite role focuses on expert financial management and accounting support, regulatory analysis, compliance, and audit readiness, along with technical guidance for government personnel.

Role Responsibilities

• Provide expert financial management and accounting support for federal government operations.
• Analyze and interpret federal financial regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Support financial reporting, internal controls, compliance, and audit readiness activities.
• Deliver technical guidance and recommendations to improve financial processes and operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with government stakeholders to address financial management challenges.
• Develop and review financial documentation, reports, and standard operating procedures.
• Provide subject matter expertise and professional guidance to government personnel.

Required Qualifications

• Education: Master’s degree in a business-related, management, or legal field.
• Licenses/Certifications: Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license and Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM) certification.
• Federal experience: Minimum of 15 years of federal government experience.
• Legislative branch experience: Minimum of 10 years supporting the legislative branch.
• Security clearance: Must possess a current favorable Public Trust determination; pending Public Trust investigations will not be accepted at the time of proposal submission.
• Strong knowledge of federal financial management principles, accounting standards, and compliance requirements.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional teaching, training, or instructional experience.
• Familiarity with or demonstrated expertise in SOP-09-0004.
• Experience providing senior-level financial advisory or consulting services to federal agencies.

Work Location and Pay

• Location: Birmingham, AL (onsite, in person)
• Pay: $35.63 - $42.91 per hour
