Job Description
Within the Michigan Department of Education, the Financial Analyst 9-P11 role sits in the Office of Educational Supports, translating data into funding actions that support public education. Based in Lansing with a hybrid schedule, the position helps manage allocations for federal and state formula grant programs and ensures the accurate distribution of more than $890,000,000 to local education agencies, intermediate education agencies, and charter schools. The analyst provides guidance on regulatory requirements and supports the expenditure and drawdown processes tied to grant funds.
Compensation
Hourly wage ranges from USD 25 to USD 40.
Responsibilities
- Acts as the financial analyst within the Office of Educational Supports, providing essential budget and grant analysis support.
- Performs professional financial duties, analyzing and validating data to determine allocations for federal and state formula grant programs.
- Supports the distribution of more than $890 million in federal and state funds to local education agencies, intermediate education agencies, and charter schools.
- Provides guidance on federal and state regulations governing fund allocations.
- Offers financial guidance on the allocation and application processes within the OES Financial Unit.
- Analyzes and supports the expenditure process for grant funds, including reviewing the draw down of federal funding and examining financial data tied to office spend plans.
Primary Physical Work Address
John A. Hannah Building, 608 West Allegan Street, Lansing, Michigan 48933. A hybrid/flexible schedule of in-person and remote work is available.
