Job Description
Work onsite in Pittsburgh as part of Thermo Fisher Scientific’s LPG Commercial Finance team, supporting profitable growth across North America through financial planning, forecasting, commercial analytics, and executive reporting. In this high-visibility role, you will partner with Commercial and Finance leadership and help shape commercial strategy using data-driven insight, with direct exposure to senior leaders.
This is a standard Mon-Fri office role, built for candidates who enjoy analysis, continuous improvement, and collaborating across teams in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Commercial leadership to deliver financial insight and decision support for the North America business.
- Analyze bookings, revenue, backlog, pipeline conversion, pricing, customer trends, and overall commercial performance.
- Own recurring forecasting activities, including monthly forecasts, quarterly outlooks, and the Annual Operating Plan (AOP).
- Create actionable risk and opportunity assessments and communicate key business drivers to Finance and Commercial leadership.
- Produce executive-level reporting including dashboards, scorecards, and presentations for monthly and quarterly business reviews.
- Support ad hoc financial analysis and strategic initiatives for Business Unit, Group, and regional leadership.
- Coordinate with Business Unit Finance, Regional Finance, and Commercial teams to maintain alignment across forecasts, reporting, and operating metrics.
- Identify and implement improvements to reporting processes, automate recurring analyses, and enhance data quality.
- Investigate reporting discrepancies, determine root causes, and collaborate cross-functionally to improve reporting accuracy and operational efficiency.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of experience in FP&A, Commercial Finance, Financial Analysis, or a related field.
- Experience supporting commercial or sales organizations preferred.
- Experience within a large, global, matrixed organization preferred.
- Strong analytical skills and financial modeling capability.
- Experience with forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and financial reporting.
- Advanced Excel skills with experience working with large datasets.
- Experience with Power BI and enterprise planning/reporting systems such as Oracle Hyperion, Financial Management, Planning, or Cognos.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including translating complex analysis into clear business recommendations.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Demonstrated initiative, intellectual curiosity, and a continuous improvement mindset.
- Ability to build strong partnerships across Finance, Commercial, and senior leadership.
