Financial Analyst, Senior

Senior Financial Analyst role with Lane County focused on GAAP-compliant governmental accounting, ACFR preparation, budget-to-actual analysis, and cross-department collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of the County's Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR).
• Oversee complex accounting activities throughout the fiscal year, including budget-to-actual reporting, modified accrual accounting, full accrual accounting, year-end close, and general ledger reconciliation.
• Collaborate across departments to ensure financial information is accurate and presented to inform County leadership, elected officials, auditors, and the public.
• Translate technical accounting information into clear, concise reports for leadership, auditors, elected officials, and external stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

• Eight years of education and/or experience in finance, accounting, municipal budgets, or similar; or a combination sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the position.

Training and Experience

• Eight years of education and/or experience in finance, accounting, municipal budgets, or similar; or a combination sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the position.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

Preferred Requirements

• Advanced understanding of GAAP, governmental accounting, and GASB
• Experience with ACFR preparation or complex financial statement production
• Strong reconciliation skills and experience improving month-end close processes
• Ability to explain technical accounting concepts to non-technical staff
• A continuous-improvement mindset with demonstrated process redesign experience
• Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
