Financial & Data Analyst
Job Description
Hirsh Industries, LLC offers a hands-on, on-site early-career role where your financial and analytics work directly supports the CFO and executive team. You will explain profit and cost drivers, help shape pricing and forecasting, and automate recurring reporting using an integrated data repository built for AI-assisted analysis. The position is based in West Des Moines, Iowa (on-site only).
What you’ll do
- Build revenue bridges that separate performance into price, volume, and mix, then run budget-versus-actual variance analysis and help design KPI scorecards leadership uses to run the business.
- Create product cost models, develop time-driven activity-based costing, and distinguish fixed vs. variable costs to improve understanding of operating leverage and true product and customer profitability.
- Model how pricing changes affect both margin and volume, supporting the commercial team on where, when, and how much.
- Support the annual budget, rolling forecasts, and scenario models using clear, documented assumptions.
- Research market size, customer segments, and competitors to inform strategy and growth decisions.
- Partner with the supply chain leader on analytics such as inventory, service levels, and freight when additional analytical horsepower is needed.
- Convert recurring manual reporting into automated, AI-assisted reporting, improving judgment and reducing copy-and-paste work while keeping data secure and numbers accurate.
- Present your own work to the CFO and executive team.
What you’ll bring
- A bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, or another quantitative field.
- 0–4 years of professional experience, with internships, co-ops, and serious academic or personal projects counting.
- Managerial or cost accounting coursework or experience, with an understanding of the difference between reporting results and explaining them.
- Strong Excel modeling skills and comfort working with large, imperfect datasets.
- Curiosity about AI and analytics tools, especially hands-on experience building with them.
- Ability to turn analysis into a clear story for non-spreadsheet stakeholders.
- Sound judgment and integrity with data: check your work, flag mismatches, and protect confidential information.
Tools you’ll use
- Tableau, Power BI, Claude, ChatGPT, ERP, SAP
Benefits and support
- Health insurance
- Dental
- Vision
- Life
- 401(k) with company match
- Paid time off
- Bonus and profit-sharing eligibility
- Continuing education outside work hours
