Financial Operational Data Analyst
Job Description
Join SWBC in San Antonio, TX (onsite) supporting the corporate accounting department with automation and reporting improvements that strengthen business development processes. In this role, you will use data and systems expertise to build and maintain Workday integrations, enhance Power Platform solutions, and deliver reliable financial operational reporting using tools including SQL, Python, and Power BI.
What you’ll do
- Prioritize business and project requirements and make decisions that consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions.
- Build, deploy, and maintain inbound and outbound integrations with Workday Financials and third-party applications.
- Support and develop solutions within the Microsoft Power Platform, including Power BI, Power Apps, and Power Automate.
- Define project purposes and outcomes, then create project plans to balance resources, timelines, and scope; develop project maps and milestones and lead the team to stay on schedule.
- Assist in the design, review, testing, and implementation of Workday updates and enhancements that impact integrations, assessing the effect of new enhancements.
- Perform regression testing on integrations during Workday enhancement cycles.
- Track business operations reporting and analytics needs and translate them into operational insights and reporting.
- Communicate regularly with accounting team members and external partners to keep stakeholders aligned on process changes, issues, and technical systems information.
- Define and document processes and future state process maps.
- Develop business cases for new tools and resources, and facilitate testing, quality assurance, and end user training.
- Participate in ad-hoc projects and due diligence efforts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Computer Information Systems, or a related field from an accredited four-year college or university (required).
- Minimum of 0 to 3 years in accounting/financial reporting and analysis, or related experience, including at least 3 years in planning and executing accounting business processes, financial, operational, or business analysis (required).
- Strong understanding of accounting-related processes and procedures related to software development and implementation.
- Strong knowledge of accounting systems and ancillary support systems such as commissions tracking/reporting, expenses, and premium accounting.
- Working knowledge of gathering and analyzing business intelligence to make recommendations to improve company results.
- Ability to build complex systems using web services standards including WSDL, SOAP, and REST.
- Demonstrated ability to partner with non-technical business owners on technical solutions.
- Strong Web Services experience with deep understanding of XSLT, XPath, and XML.
- General understanding of ERP systems software such as Workday.
- Working knowledge of SQL to query relational databases (including Microsoft SQL Server).
- Advanced Workday report writing experience, including deep understanding of data sources and primary business objects needed to support integrations, plus expert-level calculated field creation.
- Excellent customer service, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent organization and written/oral communication.
- Proficient in computers and keyboarding, including MS Word and Excel and common accounting software systems.
- Ability to work independently, cross-functionally, and in team environments; able to work and promote inclusiveness in small groups.
- Physical ability requirements include lifting 10-20 lbs, and sitting for long periods while gathering, updating, and validating transactions, with ability to stoop, kneel, and/or stand to retrieve documents.
