Job Description

TPM Placement is seeking a Senior Paraplanner for an in-office, full-time role in Columbus, OH. The position focuses on direct client work, building financial plans, and providing personalized wealth management advice while ensuring adherence to firm and regulatory requirements.

Role Overview

This senior paraplanner role supports the delivery of comprehensive financial planning and related tax and estate planning activities. You will gather and analyze client information, contribute to recommendations and advice provided in client meetings, and coordinate planning documentation through MoneyGuidePro. The role also requires ongoing awareness of tax law, estate regulations, and capital market trends.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gather and analyze client data to create and maintain financial plans.
  • Participate in client meetings and help deliver recommendations to clients.
  • Profile clients to identify investment and lending needs; coordinate investment, fiduciary, and lending solutions to support those needs.
  • Develop investment ideas grounded in firm research, team guidelines, and asset allocation strategies aligned to client risk profiles and objectives.
  • Coordinate with team members to gather, file, and upload planning information into MoneyGuidePro.
  • Act as a subject matter resource on financial planning topics and emerging trends, staying current on tax law, estate regulations, and capital market trends.
  • Build increasing autonomy within six months, including reaching out to clients directly and running client meetings independently.
  • Support tax and estate planning work, including insurance gap analysis and beneficiary reviews.
  • Comply with all firm rules and the requirements of applicable regulatory agencies.

Required Qualifications

  • Deep knowledge of financial planning concepts and tools, including the ability to analyze client data and build customized, goal-based plans.
  • Strong verbal and written service skills, with prompt, accurate, and detail-oriented follow-through.
  • Thorough, resourceful problem-solving skills and a solutions-based approach to challenges.
  • Comfort collaborating with team members and other departments.
  • Ability to manage multiple high-touch projects simultaneously with precision and accuracy.
  • Advanced hands-on experience with financial planning software, ideally MoneyGuidePro (also acceptable: eMoney).
  • Strong work ethic aligned with the existing team’s expectations.
  • Genuine interest in serving clients and acting as a knowledgeable resource.
  • Ability to run a client meeting from start to finish with effective presentation skills.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
  • Initiative and ownership across role responsibilities, including logistics and processes.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Professional Licenses: Series 7, 63, and 65 (or 66) required.
  • Must obtain an insurance license within 12 months of hire.
  • Industry experience: 3 to 5 years required.
  • Financial planning experience: 3 to 5 years required.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary: USD 110,000 to 130,000 per year, based on experience.
