Job Description
Northwestern Mutual is hiring a full-time Financial Planning Associate in Portage, MI (onsite), offering USD 40,000 - 60,000 per year to support financial representatives through a comprehensive planning process that blends risk management and investment products.
Responsibilities
- Maintain compliant electronic client and complaint files, and enter factfinder data and case notes into the CRM system.
- Oversee underwriting end-to-end, from application submission to policy in force.
- Coordinate medical exams and monitor the Daily Status Report to act on cases in underwriting.
- Develop product knowledge, planning skills, and sales capabilities through structured training and mentorship.
- Hold weekly one-on-one meetings with assigned Financial Representatives.
- Produce client prospecting lists and cross-sell analytics.
- Partner with Home Office Financial Planning Services.
- Provide a high-quality client experience through responsiveness, professionalism, and consistent follow-through.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Active licensing or eligibility to obtain LAH, SIE, Series 7, and Series 63.
- Bachelor's Degree (preferred) or equivalent professional experience.
- 1-3 years of experience in financial services, sales, or client-facing roles.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proactive in anticipating needs and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Detail-oriented, collaborative, and coachable.
- Solid technological proficiency.
- Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Manage a high-volume workload.
