Job Description
The Financial Reporting Manager is based onsite in Redding, California, and reports to the Controller. The role leads external financial reporting for a multi-entity portfolio totaling roughly 80 entities, oversees external audits and GAAP financial statements, and supports lenders, partners, and investors.
Responsibilities
- Oversee external attestation engagements—audits, reviews, and compilations—from planning through report issuance, functioning as the primary liaison with external accounting firms.
- Prepare standalone and consolidated GAAP financial statements and footnote disclosures, including reviewed statements required by lenders and joint venture partners.
- Own the engagement calendar: coordinate PBC request lists, manage timelines and deliverables across multiple concurrent engagements, and track open items and corrective actions to resolution.
- Respond to internal and external requests for financial statements and supporting analyses from lenders, investors, JV partners, and executive leadership.
- Maintain audit-ready financial records and documentation in accordance with GAAP and company policy, supporting regulatory and compliance audits including renewable energy incentives, grants, and project financing.
- Apply technical accounting guidance to complex structures, including ASC 810 consolidation and variable interest entity analysis, ASC 323 equity method investments, and related disclosures.
- Research and document technical accounting positions in memos for new transactions, structures, and adopted standards.
- Collaborate with accounting managers to ensure close deliverables meet external reporting requirements and integrate engagement findings into close process improvements.
- Develop and maintain financial statement templates, disclosure checklists, and reporting policies that scale with company growth.
- Prepare financial reporting packages and analyses for executive leadership as requested.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Minimum of six years of accounting experience, including substantial involvement in preparing GAAP financial statements and managing external audits or reviews.
- Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including consolidation, multi-entity accounting, and footnote disclosures.
- Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent engagements and deadlines with external parties.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with mid-market or enterprise ERP systems.
- Excellent written communication skills, including drafting technical accounting memos and footnote disclosures.

Position Description
The Financial Reporting Manager oversees MEW’s external financial reporting for a multi-entity framework of about 80 legal entities. While the broader accounting team handles quarterly and annual closes, this role leads post-close activities by preparing standalone and consolidated GAAP statements, managing external audits from kickoff to issuance, and responding to financial statement requests.
Physical Demand Requirements
This is largely a sedentary role with some travel required. The position may involve walking up and down stairs and traveling in and out of vehicles and airplanes.
Work Environment
Primarily a professional office setting. The role routinely uses standard office equipment including computers, phones, copiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
