Job Description

The Financial Services Analyst role at Nationwide is a hybrid position based in Troy, NY, supporting customers, plan sponsors, and investment professionals through inbound call service, education, and lead identification. The position requires completion of specific FINRA licensing within the first 120 days of employment.

Role Overview

This is a full-time Sales position reporting to a Supervisor/Manager with no direct reports. The analyst will work in a call center environment, handling extended periods of time seated at a computer and taking phone calls. The role is available to candidates who reside within 35 miles of Troy, NY.

Key Responsibilities

  • Answer and respond to inbound calls from investment professionals, plan sponsors, and policyholders across multiple financial topics.
  • Apply knowledge of product suites, including current offerings and products no longer sold that still require servicing.
  • Interpret and apply changes and enhancements to both new and legacy products using daily change communications.
  • Identify sales leads for unfamiliar product lines to support strategy across business lines and goal achievement.
  • Maintain accurate records of conversations and follow documentation processes to strengthen member relationships.
  • Follow applicable rules and regulations to support compliance with FINRA or other professional licensure requirements, Nationwide policies, firm and plan documents, and state and local laws.
  • Transform service inquiries into sales leads within the assigned business segment and/or provide sales leads to support other products.
  • Educate customers on topics including tax implications, penalties or surrender charges, death benefit protection, lifetime income, capital preservation, and plan or contract benefits.
  • Analyze issues to determine appropriate next steps with a focus on first-time resolution and engage internal partners when required.
  • Handle escalated calls and demonstrate the ability to de-escalate complex situations and provide solutions to members and partners.
  • Use lean methodology in daily interactions through problem-solving meetings and team huddles, and look for process improvement opportunities in coordination with other business units.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with multiple technology systems and programs, using virtual technology and social media to enhance member and partner experience.
  • Navigate within Nationwide to provide accurate data and information to the investment professional and member base.
  • Participate in monthly individual meetings with leadership to plan career path strategy, including goal setting and expectations for current and future opportunities.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications and Licensing

  • FINRA SIE, Series 6, and Series 63 are required and must be obtained within 120 days of employment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Associates must acquire required federal and/or state licenses and registrations within the timeframe designated by the business unit.
  • If required licenses or registrations are not obtained within the designated period, the associate will be ineligible to continue in the position.
  • Two to three years of experience in customer service and sales-related occupations.
  • Knowledge of various insurance products and the sales process.
  • Strong understanding of state and local laws applicable to the legal implications of certain product features in different states.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate Nationwide marketing strategies during customer interactions.
  • Ability to educate callers regarding service inquiries, facilitate consultative conversations, and convert inquiries into sales leads for the analyst’s product line or other Nationwide Financial products.
  • Familiarity with firm and plan restrictions and how they apply to business activities.
  • Due to fiduciary accountability, a valid credit and/or background check is required as part of selection.

Preferred: An undergraduate degree in finance, business administration, insurance, economics, or communications. Desirable: ChFC, CLU, and other industry designations. Additional licensing may apply based on assigned product or line of business, including Series 6 (may be required), and Series 26 (preferred and may be required).

  • Work hours: 8:30AM to 4:45PM EST.
  • On-site schedule: Exact schedule to be determined by the hiring manager.
