Job Description

Support finance operations for the Bergen Vicinage, including data extraction, reporting, budgeting, and internal controls, with a hybrid work option.

Responsibilities

  • Access multiple legacy and vendor-specific systems to retrieve required data.
  • Create technical, statistical, and financial reports, including reviews and evaluations.
  • Analyze and interpret accounting, financial, and statistical information.
  • Conduct audits of financial processes and internal controls.
  • Carry out financial audits to verify accuracy, compliance, and legitimacy in accordance with standards, preserving security and confidentiality.
  • Examine cases in line with applicable laws, regulations, and professional practices.
  • Ensure activities conform to established policies, procedures, and directives.
  • Assess activities for adherence to procedures, administrative directives, and laws or regulations.
  • Compile statistical data on workload, unit expenditures, personnel actions, fixed assets, equipment, and attendance.
  • Coordinate the collection, maintenance, and tabulation of accounting, financial, or statistical data.
  • Perform variance analyses and determine corrective actions for posting errors and discrepancies.
  • Develop spending forecasts.
  • Prepare operating budgets.
  • Process vendor payments and employee reimbursements.
  • Suggest enhancements to procedures, programs, standards, workflows, or administrative practices.
  • Participate actively in team meetings and special projects.
  • Deliver high-quality customer service to court users and internal clients.
  • Serve as a liaison and build constructive relationships with other divisions, vicinages, central office, and external partners.
  • Maintain respectful and dignified treatment of staff, clients, and the public.
  • Regular and predictable on-site presence is required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 21 credit hours in accounting, business administration, economics, public administration, statistics, mathematics, data analytics or related fields, including at least six accounting credits; three years of professional accounting, auditing, budgeting, cash management and/or financial analysis.
  • Substitution: If the degree requirements are not met, applicants may substitute additional relevant coursework (21 credits across specified areas, including six accounting credits) with proportional paraprofessional or professional experience (one year of experience equals 30 semester hour credits).
  • A master's degree in business or public administration, economics, accounting, statistics, mathematics, data analytics or finance may substitute for one year of general experience.
  • A CPA designation may substitute for one year of general experience.
  • Education note: college or university transcript required; unofficial transcript required to apply. Foreign degrees must be evaluated by a recognized evaluation service.

Remote Work

  • The Judiciary offers a hybrid schedule; up to two days of remote work may be possible outside Judiciary buildings. Participation requires a multifactor authentication app on a mobile device and high-speed home internet access.

Supplemental Information

  • Driver's License: Required only if vehicle operation is necessary to perform essential duties; license must be valid in New Jersey.
  • Authorization to Work: US citizenship is not required; applicant must be authorized to work in the US under DHS/USCIS regulations.
  • Special Note: Newly hired employees must undergo a thorough background check, including fingerprinting; information remains confidential.
  • Residency Law: All new hires must establish and maintain principal residence in New Jersey within one year under the New Jersey First Act; exemptions may be requested for hardship or employer critical need.
