Job Description

At Peoples Gas System in Tampa, FL, the Senior Business Planning Analyst within FP&A leads financial planning, analysis, and cross-functional collaboration to influence budgeting, forecasting, and strategic decision making for the utility.

Responsibilities

The role encompasses leading core FP&A activities and partnering with business leaders across the organization to drive financial planning and analysis.

  • Lead core FP&A activities and collaborate with executives and department heads to steer financial planning and analysis across the enterprise.
  • Develop and manage the annual budget, monthly forecasts, and long-range financial plans.
  • Assist in preparing income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow projections.
  • Provide monthly variance analysis, earnings insights, and comprehensive financial reporting packages.
  • Translate financial data into clear, actionable insights for senior leadership.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to offer financial guidance on projects and initiatives.
  • Conduct cost-benefit analyses and evaluate investments to support decision making.
  • Support regulatory filings and ensure accurate financial data for compliance reporting.
  • Identify opportunities for cost control and financial performance improvements.
  • Build models, dashboards, charts, and presentations to communicate performance trends.
  • Present findings to stakeholders and senior leadership.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to business partners and leadership teams.
  • Mentor junior analysts and elevate overall team performance.

Requirements

Educational and professional prerequisites include:

  • A regionally accredited Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, an additional four years of related financial work experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of six years of experience in financial planning, accounting, or analysis.
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and data analysis tools.
  • Experience preparing financial statements, forecasts, and variance analyses.
  • Strong analytical thinking, effective communication, and problem-solving capabilities.

Incident Response Assignment

The organization maintains readiness to respond swiftly to incidents that may affect safety or service continuity, including severe weather, gas leaks, equipment failures, environmental hazards, and other emergencies.

Team members are assigned an Incident Response Assignment, receive role-specific training, and may participate in drills simulating various emergency scenarios.
