Job Description

Thrivent is hiring a Team-Based Financial Advisor for its Rapid City, SD office. This full-time role supports a structured learning and development path, combining mentorship with hands-on client work, joint fieldwork, and the study required to obtain the necessary licenses. You will build momentum within the practice while working closely with Lead Advisors and supporting the growth of a client book.

Role overview

  • Learn and understand the entire operation of the practice through structured exposure and team-based coaching.
  • Participate in joint fieldwork to build expertise and learn industry best practices.
  • Meet with new and existing clients to build relationships and grow a book of business.
  • Work with Lead Advisors on complex scenarios and collaborate as needs arise.
  • Schedule, prepare, and document all client meetings, supporting consistent client service.

Client and sales support responsibilities

  • Solicit and sell appropriate products, complete applications, write recommendations, and service existing clients and contracts.
  • Position products, services, and strategies to help clients gain financial clarity.
  • Research and respond to client inquiries.
  • Build proficiency in common advice tools and platforms, including Salesforce, Money Guide Pro, and What-If Tax.
  • Participate in events to attract new clients and provide financial education to the local community.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Lead Advisor.

Training and licensing path

Over your first 8 to 13 weeks, you will study for and obtain the required licenses based on your individual situation. Potential licensing may include:

  • Resident state Life, Health and Annuity
  • Securities Industry Essentials (SIE)
  • Series 6 and 63 or 7 and 66, or 7, 63 and 65

After completing licensing, you may enroll in a comprehensive 6-week training program.

  • Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Military veterans are encouraged to apply.
  • Satisfactory background check and fingerprinting, and securities registration and/or insurance licensing verification, if applicable.

Desired characteristics
