Job Description

The Financial Analyst role at Intermountain Healthcare supports leaders and stakeholders through strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and operational improvement initiatives. The position contributes to reporting and analytics that inform both business and clinical performance.

Key Responsibilities

Provide support and analysis for budgeting, strategic planning, variance reporting, and ad-hoc analysis activities for a facility, region, division, or as part of a system-wide team.
Complete specifically defined tasks related to routine functions such as operating budget, capital budget, strategic planning, patient accounts, and operations; non-routine tasks are handled under supervision.
Ensure assigned tasks are completed on time and with accurate results.
Prepare routine to minimally complex financial analyses, variance reports, and ad-hoc reports.
Partner with internal customers to develop and produce quantitative reports using available data to evaluate clinical and operational issues.
Participate in system-wide processes or improvement projects when assigned and under supervision.

Required and Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a business-related field (preferred), earned through an accredited institution; education is verified.
Entry level role: no professional work experience required.
One year of experience in finance, accounting, or analytics conducting and evaluating routine financial analysis (preferred).
Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet, e-mail, and scheduling applications (preferred).
Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills (preferred, including demonstrated experience).
Additional experience options include two years, four years, or up to a master’s degree with less than two years of related experience (as specified in the requirements).
Demonstrated project management skills, high accuracy, and sound decision-making with limited supervision (preferred).
Knowledge of Intermountain Healthcare finances and financial processes (preferred), and experience with budgeting and finance tracking responsibilities (preferred, including demonstrated experience).
Master’s degree options require that the degree be obtained through an accredited institution; education is verified.

What you’ll work on

Medallion Communities, a Utah-based operator overseeing a portfolio of 30 manufactured home communities, is seeking a Financial Controller to guide the finance function from a remote location. This senior leadership role centers on comprehensive financial reporting, overseeing the month-end close, and delivering both property-level and consolidated statements while partnering with operations, asset management, and executive leadership to drive clarity and accountability across the portfolio.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage the full month-end close process across all 30 manufactured home communities, ensuring deadlines are met.
Prepare and review property-level income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements monthly.
Prepare consolidated financial statements across the entire portfolio for management and ownership review.
Analyze monthly variances against budget and prior periods; present findings with clear commentary to senior leadership.
Maintain a structured close calendar and coordinate with property managers and operations staff to ensure timely submission of all source data.
Review and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaid amortization, depreciation, intercompany eliminations, and other adjusting entries.
Reconcile all balance sheet accounts monthly; investigate and resolve reconciling items promptly.
Assist in the preparation of annual operating budgets and capital expenditure plans across all 30 properties.
Provide monthly budget-to-actual analyses and rolling forecasts by property and consolidated.
Support the CFO with financial modeling, scenario analysis, and ad hoc financial reports as needed.
Track key performance indicators (KPIs) including occupancy rates, lot rent revenue, NOI, and operating expenses per community.
Oversee and review the accounts payable and accounts receivable cycles across all properties.
Monitor resident rent collections, delinquencies, and aging reports in coordination with property management teams.
Manage cash flow visibility across all community bank accounts; ensure timely funding and intercompany transfers.
Maintain bank reconciliations for all entities and flag discrepancies for resolution.
Establish and enforce internal controls over financial reporting across the entire portfolio.
Ensure compliance with GAAP, applicable state regulations, and investor or lender reporting requirements.
Serve as the primary contact for external auditors and tax preparers; coordinate annual audits and tax filings.
Maintain organized and audit-ready workpapers and supporting documentation for all financial close activities.
Assist with lender covenant compliance reporting and periodic draw requests where applicable.
Utilize property management and accounting software such as RentManager, Yardi, or similar to manage financial data across all 30 communities.
Drive continuous improvement in close processes, workflows, and reporting templates.
Mentor and develop accounting staff; coordinate workload to meet deadlines.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a Controller or Accounting Manager role.
Demonstrated experience managing month-end close for a multi-entity or multi-property portfolio (10+ properties preferred).
Strong working knowledge of GAAP and property management accounting principles.
Proficiency with property management or real estate accounting software (RentManager, Yardi, AppFolio, MRI, or equivalent).
