Financial Analyst
Job Description
The Financial Analyst role at Intermountain Healthcare supports leaders and stakeholders through strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and operational improvement initiatives. The position contributes to reporting and analytics that inform both business and clinical performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide support and analysis for budgeting, strategic planning, variance reporting, and ad-hoc analysis activities for a facility, region, division, or as part of a system-wide team.
- Complete specifically defined tasks related to routine functions such as operating budget, capital budget, strategic planning, patient accounts, and operations; non-routine tasks are handled under supervision.
- Ensure assigned tasks are completed on time and with accurate results.
- Prepare routine to minimally complex financial analyses, variance reports, and ad-hoc reports.
- Partner with internal customers to develop and produce quantitative reports using available data to evaluate clinical and operational issues.
- Participate in system-wide processes or improvement projects when assigned and under supervision.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a business-related field (preferred), earned through an accredited institution; education is verified.
- Entry level role: no professional work experience required.
- One year of experience in finance, accounting, or analytics conducting and evaluating routine financial analysis (preferred).
- Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet, e-mail, and scheduling applications (preferred).
- Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills (preferred, including demonstrated experience).
- Additional experience options include two years, four years, or up to a master’s degree with less than two years of related experience (as specified in the requirements).
- Demonstrated project management skills, high accuracy, and sound decision-making with limited supervision (preferred).
- Knowledge of Intermountain Healthcare finances and financial processes (preferred), and experience with budgeting and finance tracking responsibilities (preferred, including demonstrated experience).
- Master’s degree options require that the degree be obtained through an accredited institution; education is verified.

Work Location
Intermountain Health at Intermountain Medical Center and Intermountain Health LDS Hospital, Murray, UT (hybrid).
Work Schedule
- Hybrid model: on-site presence with 4 days in the office, with the option of 1 day remote after completing training.
- Core business hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Scheduled weekly hours: 40.
Compensation
USD 31–48 per hour.

Physical Requirements
- Ongoing need to see and read information, documents, and monitors, and to identify equipment and supplies while assessing customer needs.
- Frequent interactions with providers, colleagues, customers, patients/clients, and visitors requiring the ability to verbally communicate and to hear and understand spoken information accurately and quickly.
- Manual dexterity for precise handling of complex and delicate equipment, including frequent computer use for typing and accessing information.
