Job Description

Portland, ME (onsite) role with MEMIC focused on claim-related financial support, workflow management, and customer service. You will help keep payment and claims processes moving smoothly by managing day-to-day responsibilities, leading annual compliance work, and partnering with internal teams and external vendor partners to resolve payment inquiries.

What you’ll do

  • Oversee the CXPCHECK diary and the Stop Pays inbox, managing workflows that include pay code change requests, stop payment requests, cashed check copy requests, requests for trace identification, and payment movement requests.
  • Research and reconcile payment issues tied to stop payment requests and undeliverable checks within the claims and vendor financial systems, updating and maintaining vendor systems as needed.
  • Enter financial data accurately into the claims system, with a primary focus on reissuing payments to support timely and correct processing.
  • Lead MEMIC’s annual W-9 collection project, supporting compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Facilitate checks printed internally by ensuring they are set up properly in the claims system, printed accurately, and mailed according to stakeholder instructions.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders and external vendor partners to investigate inquiries and reconcile discrepancies of moderate to high complexity while maintaining a high level of customer service.
  • Support Financial Specialist II responsibilities, including coverage on trained tasks to maintain operational efficiency.

What you bring

  • Preferred minimum 3 years of experience in customer service and/or finance.
  • Ability to quickly learn multiple computer applications, with typing speed and accuracy essential.
  • Strong understanding of financial procedures, along with analytical and research skills.
  • Initiative on projects involving communication with both internal and external customers.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and communicate clearly and consistently in verbal and written forms.
  • Organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management, with the capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to identify trends and solve problems independently.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure, adapt to changing priorities, and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
  • Prior experience in Workers’ Compensation Claim processing or support is a plus.
