Director of Finance

Goodwin Recruiting is hiring a Director of Finance for an onsite role supporting a Fort Worth area residential homebuilding division in Aledo, TX.

Responsibilities

• Own finance operations for the Fort Worth residential homebuilding division
• Partner with construction, purchasing, and executive leadership on financial strategy and execution
• Lead construction accounting activities
• Manage job costing and related reporting
• Drive forecasting and ongoing financial planning
• Oversee cash-flow management
• Maintain and support internal control processes
• Manage project profitability and performance reporting

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field
• CPA, CMA, or MBA strongly preferred
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting and finance experience
• Significant experience in residential homebuilding, construction, or real estate development
• Strong knowledge of construction accounting, job costing, work-in-progress accounting, GAAP, and project profitability
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and cash-flow management
• Experience overseeing monthly close, balance-sheet reconciliations, financial reporting, and variance analysis
• Proven track record managing and developing accounting or finance professionals
• Advanced Excel skills
• ERP experience, including exposure to construction accounting, purchasing, and financial-reporting systems
• Ability to identify cost overruns, margin erosion, liquidity concerns, and other financial risks early
• Working knowledge of purchasing workflows, accounts payable, purchase-order controls, vendor commitments, and payment approvals
• Experience monitoring construction budgets, commitments, change orders, draws, vendor expenses, and projected costs to complete
• Ability to translate complex financial information into clear, actionable recommendations
• Strategic and operational mindset connecting financial performance to construction execution
• Positive, collaborative leadership style
• Strong communication skills to partner effectively with both finance and non-finance leaders
• Demonstrated career progression with initiative, accountability, and professional growth
• Experience supporting external audits while maintaining strong internal controls
