Job Description
The City of McCall is seeking a seasoned finance professional to lead the Finance Department and steward municipal financial operations. The Finance Director will shape budgeting, accounting, forecasting, audits, and treasury activities while advising City leadership on fiscal policy and performance. This hybrid role in McCall, Idaho offers a competitive salary range and an opportunity to guide financial strategy across city departments.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the City’s financial planning, accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting activities.
- Carry out complex accounting tasks including general ledger reconciliation, journal entries, budget entries, and the preparation of monthly and periodic financial statements and reports.
- Lead the implementation of new accounting standards and ensure compliance with GAAP and current GASB requirements.
- Develop and administer policies governing banking, investments, and debt management.
- Monitor and reconcile bank and investment accounts and manage fund transfers as needed.
- Provide financial leadership and accounting expertise to City departments and related agencies.
- Advise department directors and City staff on financial policies, budgeting, forecasting, and fiscal expectations.
- Promote sound financial stewardship through strategic planning, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field; and
- Seven (7) years of financial management experience, including five (5) years of supervisory experience, preferably with a governmental organization. Or,
- Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of the position.
- Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to successfully pass a comprehensive background investigation.
