Financial Aid Advisor
Job Description
The Financial Aid Advisor provides direct support to the Director of Financial Aid by acting as the primary student point of contact and helping ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional financial aid policies. The role supports Denver Seminary’s recruitment and retention goals through timely, accurate, and compassionate guidance, including financial literacy and debt management support.
Location and Work Arrangement
- Location: Littleton, CO
- Work mode: Hybrid
Compensation
- Salary: USD 19 - 24 per hour
Key Responsibilities
- Assist prospective and current students with the financial aid process, including completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and scholarship applications
- Serve as the main point of contact for student questions and concerns through in-person, phone, and email
- Maintain the Financial Aid Office Policies and Procedures Manual for areas overseen by this position
- Oversee student outreach initiatives, including financial literacy, FAFSA completion, Preview Days, and off-site financial aid trainings
- Ensure communications are current (email, phone, and other methods) and that appropriate schedules are in place for student outreach
- Oversee the seminary’s financial literacy program, including on-campus seminars and updated financial-management tools, and develop and oversee student debt management efforts
- Maintain contact with student borrowers delinquent on loan payments, monitor the school’s default rate, and coordinate with federal loan services to support repayment and default rate management
- Assist the Director with Title IV awarding, verification, clearing ISIR issues, and participation in the federal audit process
- Support other departments within the Department of Student Success as needed
- Stay current on training by attending webinars and off-site training sessions
- Communicate with vendors associated with financial aid programs
- Complete data entry of financial aid forms
- Maintain the financial aid file system
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree
- Prior experience: Prior experience with financial aid is preferred
- Knowledge and general understanding of accounting and bookkeeping, with accurate math skills
- Customer service experience with the ability to work effectively with a diverse population
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Careful attention to detail
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality
- Computer competency with proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Experience with CampusVue SIS software is preferred
- Familiarity with the Federal Direct Loan Program, including technical processes and systems such as EDConnect, COD, and NSLDS is preferred
- A committed personal relationship with Jesus Christ required, with a lifestyle consistent with the seminary’s Community Values and Behavioral Commitments
- Agreement with Denver Seminary’s statement of faith
- Self-starter who can organize, communicate, and manage projects effectively
- Ability to prioritize accuracy and manage daily duties while handling interruptions and multiple tasks

Typical Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- Normal office working conditions with computer use; occasional standing, walking, long periods of sitting, climbing stairs, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling may be required
