Job Description
UT Southwestern is seeking a detail-oriented Financial Analyst I to support financial analysis, reporting, and variance review within its financial management processes. This onsite role in Dallas, TX focuses on producing accurate monthly reporting, evaluating forecast versus actual performance, and ensuring submissions align with applicable University of Texas System and federal and state procedures.
The position also involves building financial models and analyses, supporting compliance-related controls and delegation of authority items, and contributing to special projects as assigned. Strong Excel capability, including pivot tables, is essential to the day-to-day work.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete monthly financial management reports and review all reports for errors and inconsistencies.
- Analyze variations between forecasts and actual performance, identify reasons for variance, and develop recommendations for improvement, including written summaries of financial data.
- Assist with preparing monthly financial reports, schedules for annual financial reports, and reports submitted to various government agencies, ensuring conformance with relevant University of Texas System and Federal and State procedures and regulations.
- Identify areas of poor performance, present findings, and make recommendations to upper management.
- Prepare financial models and conduct financial analyses.
- May assist with maintaining controls for financial system policies and procedures, including development and maintenance of delegation of authority for procedures such as check requests, refunds, invoice approval, and bad debt write-offs.
- Assist with special projects as requested.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Excel proficiency, including pivot tables.
- Bachelor’s Degree in finance, accounting, or another related field.
- No experience required.
- A thorough approach to financial analysis, reporting, and compliance with organizational policies.
