Job Description
The Financial Analyst - Operational Finance role at Turner Construction Company supports profit center operations through financial reporting, budgeting, analysis, and partnership with Financial Managers.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, analyze, and review internal and external financial reports.
- Create ad hoc financial reports and perform analyses as requested by the Financial Manager and leadership.
- Conduct account analyses and reconciliations as part of the month end close.
- Collaborate with the Financial Manager to deliver year end analyses and work papers for corporate audits.
- Assist in developing and maintaining budgeting and forecasting reports for Profit Center general and administrative expenses.
- Work with the Financial Manager and leadership to develop, prepare, and meet targets of the annual profit plan.
- Help ensure compliance with GAAP, IAS, FARS, ERISA, and IRS, along with internal policies on Accounting, Risk Management, and Cost, in partnership with the Financial Manager.
- Develop and deploy financial tools to streamline analysis and reporting processes.
- Participate in month end and quarterly close activities, including balance sheet reconciliations, deferred rent, fixed assets, and tracking of leasehold improvements.
- Assist with sales tax audits and coordinate staff training under the guidance of the Financial Manager.
- Support the Financial Manager in internal reviews, year-end tasks, and client audits.
- Conduct month end, accrual, and operational analyses; manage transfers to projects and support AOP setup as delegated by the Financial Manager.
- Maintain or audit quarterly season ticket and gift card logs, validate policies and procedures, and prepare journal entries as needed.
- Maintain employee cost centers and follow up on missing time entries with Financial Managers.
- Interface with the Financial Center to ensure alignment and coordination.
- Analyze and prepare special projects as directed by the Financial Manager and leadership teams.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, plus three years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, IAS, FARS, ERISA, and IRS requirements.
- Solid understanding of financial operations and the ability to apply operational efficiency principles and best practices.
- Ability to perform analytical reviews, audits, and forecasting.
- Excellent organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficiency with financial systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Self-starter with adaptability to work with minimal supervision in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment, identify issues, and initiate corrective actions.
- Strong teamwork orientation and commitment to professional standards.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Occasional travel required.
