Product Designer / Finance

Motion Recruitment is hiring a Founding Product Designer to shape a core role inside an AI-powered financial platform at a fintech startup. This onsite position in New York, NY will focus on end-to-end product design ownership, from early discovery through implementation, while partnering closely with Product, Engineering, and Leadership.

As one of the company’s earliest design team members, you will help define the product experience, contribute to an evolving design system, and establish design culture and processes that support fast iteration in a startup environment.

Role overview

• Own product design initiatives from early discovery through final implementation across the company’s AI-powered platform
• Design intuitive workflows that simplify complex financial processes and improve the customer experience
• Create user experiences that communicate AI-generated insights in ways that build customer trust and confidence
• Develop interaction patterns that encourage user feedback and continuously improve AI-driven product experiences
• Partner with Product, Engineering, and Leadership teams to define product strategy and prioritize customer needs
• Balance long-term product vision with rapid iteration in a fast-paced startup environment

Design execution

• Produce wireframes, user flows, high-fidelity mockups, prototypes, and production-ready design specifications
• Contribute to and evolve the company’s design system to ensure consistency and scalability across the platform
• Conduct user research, gather customer feedback, and iterate based on real-world usage and product analytics
• Help establish design culture, processes, and product philosophy as an early member of the design team

Required experience

• 3-5 years of Product Design experience, including full ownership of a product or major feature from concept through launch
• Strong experience designing complex B2B SaaS, fintech, or enterprise software products
• Proven ability to create product experiences that improve measurable outcomes such as engagement, activation, or retention
• Experience using AI tools as part of your design workflow to improve efficiency, ideation, and execution
• Strong foundation in UX design, interaction design, information architecture, and visual design principles
• Ability to simplify complex workflows and translate technical concepts into intuitive user experiences
• High proficiency with Figma, design systems, prototyping, and developer handoff
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to articulate design decisions and collaborate across Product and Engineering
